Virtual Instruments Accreditation (VIA)

Virtual Instruments training offers no-cost accreditations that provide base knowledge and augments our certification program. Completion of an accreditation track will result in credentials, but not a certification.

Virtual Instruments Certification

Virtual Instruments certifications validate professional expertise and a commitment to premium skills development to master VI technologies. Certifications are cost-based and require class attendance, successful completion of a certification test, and requires partners to complete hands-on field work with VI.

What is the difference between an accreditation and a certification?

An accreditation is a no-cost eLearning track that provides base knowledge and augments our certification program. A certification is a more rigorous cost-based instructor-led track that requires certification testing and may require hands-on field work with VI depending on the certification. A certification provides benefits such as early access to new training, a private community for certified professionals, and top-level training support priority, as well as the recognition in the industry. For questions on accreditation or certification, see our Accreditation & Certification page on the VI website, download the Accreditation & Certification datasheet from the VI website, or contact training@virtualinstruments.com.

How do you enroll in an accreditation or a certification track?

On the VI University home page, click on the Accreditation & Certification icon, select the desired track by clicking on the title, and then click the Request button. To view or manage certification track enrollment, click on the My Training icon on the VI University home page. Please download the Virtual Instruments University User Guide from the VI website for detailed directions or contact training@virtualinstruments.com for support.

What are the requirements for accreditations and certifications?

Each accreditation and certification has different requirements. From the VI University home page, click on the Accreditation & Certification icon, click on the title of the accreditation or certification desired to view the requirements. Please see the Accreditation & Certification page on the VI website for details or if you have further questions, contact training@virtualinstruments.com.

What is the best way to prepare for a certification exam?

Complete all the prerequisites, attend all of the required classes in full, complete all of the required labs, read the student guide in its entirety, review your lab guide, and give yourself enough time to properly assimilate the data that you learned in class. It is not recommended to take the exam immediately after class or more than 30 days after the class has completed. The ideal time to schedule your certification exam is 1 to 3 weeks after the class. As our certification tests are not proctored, access the exam from a conducive environment and allow yourself enough time to complete the test. For details on individual certification exams, please contact training@virtualinstruments.com.

How much do the exams cost?

All exams cost 200 training units and are delivered through Test.com or Virtual Instruments University. For questions on certification exam costs, please contact training@virtualinstruments.com.

Do the accreditations and certifications expire?

Yes. It is important to keep you on the cutting edge of Virtual Instruments product capabilities. Accreditations and certifications expire annually from the date you were granted the credentials. VI will provide the criteria for renewal to accredited or certified individuals 90 days prior to expiration.

What is in the VI Certification Welcome Kit?

The VI Certification Welcome Kit includes a Welcome Letter from VI’s CEO, John Thompson, a certificate of completion, certification badges, and the Certification Agreement. The Welcome Kit will be distributed electronically upon successful completion and verification of all certification requirements.
